La 'iku means great calm, utter quiet, and serenity. And he is at times, when he's not pestering poor Kaya, crying to be held, waking us up in the morning, and bullying neighborhood kitties.
La 'iku was a stray found up in Oakridge, OR. My brother, Marcello, found him and transported him to our house in Eugene. And all is happily ever after...
Mo'ana, our Border Collie pup, means ocean in Hawaiian. We call her our "little monster". She's already eaten us out of house and home, and we're not talking food. It's a good thing this one is so cute, otherwise, she'd be in big trouble.
