Tall coffee, with Koi

A rare self portrait of me writing in my journal, that was given to me by my dear friend Felice. I had spent the morning at Ala Moana shopping for the perfect chain on which to hang the Buddha coin that she gave me. I found one. Thanks Felice.
As I sat there journaling, I thought it might be fun to take a picture of the fishys [sic]. What I came up with I like to call "Tall coffee, with Koi". I see it as an image that embodies the true melting pot that is Hawaii: West mixing with East, commercialism (Starbucks) mixing with culturalism (Japanese water garden), addiction (coffee) juxtaposed with aesthetic (Koi pond), instant gratification (12 0z, to go!) versus the true flow of life (the fish are never in a hurry to get anywhere, because they're already there...).
