Hey all - I started participating in this program called eScrip back in 2005. It's a way for businesses to donate money to your schools when you shop at their store. It's nation-wide so get your school to participate or get their existing group ID! You don't even need a kid in school to participate, so all you single, child-less consumers, you know who you are...go shopping and support our education system - no cost to you!
i.e.
Safeway, Payless Shoe Source, Eddie Bauer, Market of Choice, Office Max, Whole Foods, Zupans, and other participating businesses.
The website is a tad convoluted but the benefits definitely out weigh the difficulties and hey if you're unsure on how to sign up I'll come over and help you :)
Sign Me Up!
1. Go to http://www.escrip.com (a secure website)
2. Click “Group ID", type in (your School ID); in the search field, and then click on “Search”.
3. A new screen comes up that shows the school. Click on “Your School"; and then click on “Next” to proceed to the next step of registering your credit/debit card(s) and Safeway card.
Dan banned Safeway over the last couple of years, so our contributions are somewhat low but Market of Choice is now participating so hopefully our contribution will increase, yay!
2005: $03.86
2006: $18.68
2007: $11.13
2008: $79.12
2009: $25.37
Total: $138.16
