Hello....we've been gardening!
Just put in FOUR blueberry plants (thanks Mom & Ryn-goo) and probably FOURTY plus strawberry plants (thanks Mr. Strong)! Best B-day present yet! My backyard is aspiring to be the Ojerio-Crowe community farm - we've got tomatos, peppers, peas, beans, the whole lot! I'm still working out how to transition from exotic plants to native PNW plants (w/ the exception of veggies and such).
Earlier this Spring we took out the Japanese Maple in the front. The Maple looked like Cousin Itt from the Adams Family and I just couldn't stand it anymore. In it's spot a Japanese Painted Fern, Astilbe, Bleeding Hearts, and Geraniums.
It took about three years of indecsion but I've finally planted the Japanese Maple tree in the front yard! I'm looking to plant the native Oregon White Oak or maybe a White Alder in the back...photos below!
Big Love, JA
