I think the last couple years of working full-time and gardening has been taking a toll on me and our garden has been neglected this summer. However, because of the work thats been done throughout the years weve had fresh flowers in the house everyday.
Instead of picking up a shovel I've been picking up a book. Usually, I have time for a book every two weeks but I am going through another reading phase. It happens every couple of years. Ive been finishing multiple books a day on the weekend and shunning all else - well except constant trips to the library.
Last week got particularly messy when I randomly decided Id repaint one of the bedrooms. Of course after the second day of detail work I was ready to be finished so I could get back to reading. I had been aching to find a spot for my new wall vase, a present from Dan, and now it hangs in our newly painted room.
This month weve made it out to the coast almost every week, so that I can practice kiteboarding before our trip to Brazil. Dan is also practicing but he's far more advanced than I and he is working on his flat water tricks. Its always nice to get to the coast because we stay in a nice area where we can swim in the river right when we wake and right before bed. I was able to dive for newts and even caught a couple rainbow trout with my net. Its rather tricky manning a net underwater and dealing with water currents.
Last weekend we met up with my brother and fiance at Waldo Lake. It was beautiful, the lake was so clear you could see pretty far underwater. We were able to swim out to a little island and bask on the warm rocks. I often believe that Dan and I were amphibians in another life.
Dan and I are also pretty stoked because this weekend will mark our year together being married and all. Everyone asks how married life is, to be honest, it isn't different at all. One thing though, is that we get to call each husband and wife, that's always funny for us...it sounds so growed (sic) up.
