Hey all...I haven't mentioned recycling graywater in the past, because it's a more proactive approach than most are willing to take and it's not approved in Oregon yet, but I am going to take a hopeful :) stab at it.
In short, graywater is the wastewater from residential homes that does not contain a high amount of contaminants. Unfortunately, it comprises the majority of residential wastewater, it's usually disposed along with blackwater, and it's treated as such at the sewage treatment plant.
Here's an idea - Before it becomes graywater toss it on your plants, grass, compost, anything than in the sink. It's that simple.
-left over water from drinking cups
-cooled boiled water (from steamed vegetables, noodles, etc.)
-water from rinsing rice
-left over straight tea and black coffee
-ice
It's just another way we can be a little more environmentally conscientious in our daily lives.
Big Love, JA
