Waking up Thanksgiving morning is always a treat!
Dan hung out with Gabriel while Hannah and I cheered on the walkers and runners for the Turkey Stuffer! As course marshalls we directed the participants and cheered them on in their last mile. We saw friends among the Trotters and our favorite Red Five Hotdog stand - Jef! Gobble, Gobble! xo JA

Before you stuff yourself with turkey, why not run the Turkey Stuffer in Springfield?
While most Turkey Trots benefit food banks, the Springfield Turkey Stuffer benefits the Willamalane Recreation District's free summer playground program. More than 1,000 kids get summer rec programs thanks to Willamalane, so it's clear what a great cause this is!
To make it even better, all participants and their families can enjoy a free swim at Splash from 9a-11:30a.
This Turkey Trot offers a 5k which starts out running through residential neighborhoods, following Thurston to 65th down to E Street, where the course then makes a lollipop along E, around a loop, and back on E before following 65th again. From there, the route continues on a loop down to A and back up towards Thurston on 64th. The route continues on past the start line through the parking lot towards the finish line at Splash Water Park in Lively Park.
While the start is actually out on Thurston, you'll head to Splash for packet pick-up, where you can also register if you haven't done so yet. The run is chip-timed, so if you plan on racing you'll be able to get an accurate finish time no matter where in the starting pack you are. The walk (not the run, though) is open to strollers, too, so the whole family can participate.
Be sure not to part on Thurston in the no-parking area; parking is available at Splash, Thurston Middle School, and along other residential streets.
