Janiece and Dan
Janiece
Proud Drinker of Kombucha since 2002.
Thinking Green for 23 Years.
I grew up in a Kalamazoo/Portage, Michigan. I spent most of my time playing in my backyard and playing in ponds. I had a fondness for mud, newts, frogs, toads, snakes, turtles, and crayfish. I was the average tomboy with three older brothers picking on me, well except for Ryan.
I ended up attending Michigan State University (Lyman Briggs) in 1998. I loved studying Biology, partying all night long, and working coffee. Eventually, I found that rather unsatisfying and decided to follow two of my older brothers to the West coast. I had already secured a job as a Barista and was very much tempted by the world class mountain biking and rock climbing found in Oregon. So, two years into college I moved and finished off a degree at the University of Oregon in 2002.
I met my husband, Dan, while climbing and we recently built a home climbing gym. We have very similar backgrounds: we grew up in the Midwest, we're mad for playing futbol (soccer), we obsess over video games, we both studied Martial Arts, we love mountain biking, and we have a passion for rock climbing. Dan is an instructor and the Director of the rock climbing facility at the University of Oregon. After five years as an opening Barista I moved on to manage at a website development company. It's by far the best job ever. What other company will offer Yoga as a health benefit?
We met climbing, moved on to kiteboarding, and back to climbing. We also love kicking the ball around, running the doggies, gardening together and we have the beginnings of a beautiful flower, vegetable garden, and a mini six-tree orchard. So almost every weekend we're either hanging out on the Pacific coast or we are up keeping and creating a beautiful garden around our home in Oregon.
I am lucky to have such a great family. I have a father who gave me an education, a compassionate mother with a green thumb, and three quirky older brothers whom have perpetually made me stand strong and tall - no exceptions.
Finally, I've met the most beautiful person, Dan, who has softened me up a bit and has made me slow down and has shown me how to deepen the love that I already have for the things that I do and the people in my life.
Hey, my love, you came to me like
Wine comes to this mouth
Grown tired of water all the time
You quench my heart and you
Quench my mind
